Deal with depression

Here are some ideas for dealing with common depressive feelings that you could write down on flash cards. You might want to select a card with a calming image.

1.Although depression is a terrible state to be in, it is not a sign of weakness.
2.Depression affects both animals and humans because it is a brain state enabled by the way our brains evolved, so it is not my fault.
3.Depression is a mental state. I can be depressed in the same way that I can be happy, relaxed, angry, or anxious.
3.Depression can affect anyone, including people who are often thought to be strong.
4. The most common causes of depression are exhaustion, trying too hard, feeling defeated, and losing hope. In our depression, there is often something threatening us.
5. By better understanding it, I can try to bring my compassionate mind to bear on it.
